| We
represent both men and women in cases involving very substantial assets
and complex issues in cases litigated at trial and on appeal throughout
the New York Metropolitan area and in other jurisdictions as well. Our
divorce practice includes negotiating many marital
dissolutions in the state and we handle matters involving
valuation of stock options, complex securities, interests in real estate
partnerships, law practices, medical practice, family-owned or closely held businesses, and
stock holdings in corporations in a wide variety of industries litigate
the valuation and distribution of all types of assets and businesses. We
often consult with lawyers from other states and foreign jurisdictions
negotiating strategies and financial planning. We handle pre-nuptial
agreements, adoption matters, custody disputes, paternity, filiation and
support matters.
We regularly turn to our colleagues in the firm's other departments (corporate, real estate, securities and trusts and estates) where there are issues in their areas of concentration for financial, business, and tax-planning advice, assistance in real estate transactions, and estate-planning services for our clients who have undergone divorces or entered into premarital agreements. While our reputation has been enhanced by our work in many high-profile divorce and custody cases, we also represent spouses in cases involving more modest assets and straightforward issues, so that the younger lawyers in the department can have an opportunity to obtain the requisite experience to handle more complicated matters. Our hourly billing rates have remained competitive in our marketplace. The attorneys in our department serve or have served on various Bar Association committees dealing with divorce, custody, guardianship and other aspects of family law. We regularly lecture on many of the important issues in family law. We often are sought out by other attorneys to provide counsel in connection with these issues. |
